Dušan Petričić was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1946. He started drawing at the age of four.  He graduated from Belgrade's Academy for Applied Arts Graphic Department, in the class of professor Bogdan Kršić.


For the last several decades, his political cartoons and illustrations regularly appeared in major Yugoslav newspapers and magazines, Večernje novosti, Politika, NIN, and, since 1993, at The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Toronto Star, Scientific America...
His professional opus includes works for theatre (set design and costume) and poster design.

As the co-author or illustrator he created more than 40 books for children, both in Yugoslavia and North America.

Dušan Petričić was a professor of illustration and animation at Belgrade's Academy for Applied Arts, Sheridan College, Oakville, Canada, Ontario College for Art and Design, Toronto, Canada, Max the Mutt School for Animation and Illustration, Toronto, Canada.
