Environmental protection
The Bank endeavors to reduce the use of natural resources also through restructuring, business streamlining, and cost-cutting. In all areas of the use of natural resources monitored by NLB, the trend of decreasing consumption continued in 2017.
Power consumption
In the area of environmental protection and reasonable use of natural resources, the Bank continued the trend of decreasing use of electrical power in 2017. Compared to 2016, in 2017 the use of electricity fell by an additional 5.2%.
The reason for the reduced consumption of electrical power is the diminished number of bank branch offices (Vetrinjska, Kolodvorska, Domžale 2, Hedera and Črnuče), renovation of older branch offices, many technical improvements, wise behaviour of employees, and wise use of electricity.
Paper consumption
Paper consumption at NLB d.d. dropped by 13.2% in 2017 compared to 2016. Also, in the area of paper consumption, a decreasing trend has been visible in recent years.
The reasons for the reduced use of paper are reduction of the archives on paper owing to IT development, introduction of the e-signature, abolishment of paper statements, reduction of the number of bank branch offices, streamlining of work processes, streamlining of the organisational structure of the bank operations, installation of central multifunctional devices for printing, and other measures for reducing costs and streamlining the Bank's operations.
Renovation of bank branch offices
In 2017, 15 bank branch offices of NLB d.d. were renovated. In Radlje ob Dravi, Ljutomer, Poslovalnica Krim, Trnovo, Zagorje, Cerknica, Ribnica, and Polje, a comprehensive renovation was carried out, with the installation of energy-saving lights, a newer heating and cooling system with lower power consumption, and energy-saving electronic, audio-video, and computer devices. In Medvode, Grosuplje, Črnomelj, Sevnica, Domžale, Maribor, and Dravograd, a minor renovation was carried out, with a wise consumption of power also being considered and a higher energy-efficiency of the buildings ensured.
Purchase of electric company cars
With the aim of protecting the environment and reducing the consumption of natural resources, the Bank purchased the first electric company car in 2017. NLB IEC use it.
Two parking places for electrical cars in front of Šmartinska 132 are available for Avant Car users.
