The Ministry of Culture responded to the initiative of NLB d.d. and decided to protect the NLB Museum and Art Collection. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia declared the NLB Museum and Art Collection to be a national treasure.
The NLB Museum and Art Collection is the result of the Cultural Heritage Management Policy which the NLB has systematically created and managed since 1999 in cooperation with the established Slovenian experts. The collection comprises a selection of 2294 works of fine art (of which 315 banking items) of the Slovenian artists from the 20th century and is considered the largest private collection of the works of fine art in Slovenia.
Also in 2018, the NLB started launched the activities for setting up a permanent museum collection. The Banking Museum is planned to be opened in October 2020 when we will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the banking activity in Slovenia.
