With 1.35 million EUR donation, NLB is changing our home region into region of opportunities

June 27, 2023

At NLB, we see responsibility to our customers, employees, and society as our mission. At the same time, we are well aware that we cannot change society for the better on our own, but only together with generous individuals and organizations that are already leaving better footprints. Together with them, we will improve the quality of life here - in our home region. At event, donations were handed over to ten organizations from across Slovenia.

As announced at the presentation of the Q1 results, NLB Group has decided to donate 1.35 million EUR at all markets in our home region where we operate. NLB Group employees nominated nearly 100 organizations and at the end by voting selected more than 30 recipients, including various associations, humanitarian organizations and groups to which we will donate funds.

In Slovenia, ten organizations together receive €500.000 donation (€50,000 each). Selected organizations cover a variety of areas: childcare, care for socially vulnerable families, care for the elderly, and also care for employees who might be in need due to illness or accident.

"I am particularly proud of this year's donation, not only because of the dedicated and generous organizations that enrich our society, but also because of my colleagues in the NLB Group who, with great commitment and pride, nominated and voted for the recipients. NLB has once again proved that it is much more than just a regional systemic financial institution, as its business results and sustainable operations are a beacon that points the way for other players in the region," said NLB’s CEO Blaž Brodnjak.

In Slovenia, the following organizations receive donations:

1. Pediatric Clinic Ljubljana

2. The Slovenian Red Cross organization – Health centre Debeli rtič

3. Fond for NLB employees (social, health)

4. Slovenian Hospice Association

5. Charity organization Palčica Pomagalčica in dobrodelni škratki

6. Palčica shelter house (for children 0-6 years)

7. Red Noses Association

8. Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth

9. Spominčica - Slovenian Association for Dementia Care

10. Rakitna Youth Climate Spa

"We were pleasantly surprised to receive the news that we had received a donation, as the fact that NLB have stood by us for many years is not a guarantee of new donations," wrote at the Pediatric Clinic, adding, "We are very grateful to NLB and its employees for remaining a traditional donor and the biggest supporter of the Pediatric Clinic, thus truly demonstrating your commitment as a socially responsible company with a feeling for even the most vulnerable groups. Especially since this is a decision made by your employees. We thank you on behalf of the Slovenian children who are treated in our clinic, their parents and all the employees of our clinic."

On receiving the donation, the Slovenian Association for Dementia Care - Spominčica wrote: "We were very surprised and touched by the news of the donation, especially by the fact that the employees of NLB by voting selected Spominčica among other organizations. This is a great recognition and praise for our work and efforts over many years to support people with dementia and their families. Thanks to the donation, we will be able to strengthen our support for people with dementia and their families. We will continue our efforts to create a dementia-friendly environment in Slovenia through the programmes implemented by Spominčica."
"When we were informed that the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth would receive a donation for the Palčica Shelter House and for the humanitarian programme ONE HEART, we were grateful to all our colleagues at NLB who recognize our work. We at ZPMS have been friends of young people for 70 years and we want to empower and encourage them in the areas where they need it most. We will use the funds for the Palčica Shelter House to improve the lives of the little ones placed in the Crisis Centre for Children Plačica, run by CSD Ljubljana, who are in need of your help. The funds for the humanitarian programme ONE HEART will be used to grant scholarships to children from socially deprived families, and to help some of them realize their musical and sporting potential," said Darja Groznik, President of the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth.
